Clarification
This process allows a flocculated water to settle, by gravity, to the bottom of a large shallow container where the flocculated solids can be removed as a sludge and the clear supernatant water can overflow from the surface of the unit. Various options are possible, depending on the application, such as sludge recirculation, lamella settling zones etc.

Very careful chemical control is necessary with this type of plant.
